Toy Stealing

Stealing toys, bones, or food can be a common occurrence in a multiple dog household.  Often times it seems like the problem comes out of nowhere and now all of a sudden you have a serious problem on your hands.

After looking back on the situation a bit further, it’s often the case that “Dog A” had been stealing bones and toys from “Dog B” for a while but it wan’t a problem because “Dog B” never reacted to the situation.  Over time, however, “Dog B” finally got fed up with “Dog A” enough to start “fighting” back.  Take a look at the short video of a human recreation to the point we are making.

(you can also see a similar video dealing with marking in the house.)

The reality of the situation is that the “problem” aspect of the interactions between dogs is often in the making for a while, you just have to know what you are looking at to see the early signs as they start to present themselves.

So to prevent issues like this from happening, make sure that you are making the right decisions for your dogs, things are happening on your terms, and you are managing your dogs in such a way that everyone is happy.  If you need help learning how to manage a multiple dog household, please consider finding a professional dog trainer in Austin to help out!
