We all know that Austin is a very dog-friendly city – numerous hiking trails, restaurants, and dog parks are scattered throughout the area. With all of the benefits that the area offers our dogs, it also hosts a few dangers as well; we are specifically talking about snakes!!
One may have been spotted on a trail, you’ve seen one dead on the side of the road, or maybe you’ve spotted one right in your backyard; I can imagine that all of us, directly or indirectly, has our very own snake story. Hopefully all of the stories end with no one getting bit or injured. As with a lot of our training, we’re advocating prevention as opposed to damage control. So, on Saturday, May 14th at 11:30 am at our Leander dog training facility we will be hosting a snake avoidance session.
We will be bringing in a trainer who specializes in teaching dogs to avoid and stay away from snakes. There will be a rattlesnake, a water moccasin, and a copperhead present to best teach the dogs avoidance. The snakes are alive but have been either devenomized or other precautions have been taken so that no dogs will be in any danger during the training session. The cost for the snake proofing session is $60 per snake per dog; you can choose to have your dog trained on all three or just one or two.
